“Mark and his team have been a fantastic addition to the team working on the Compass Point Project, we required detailed surveys and plans of the site sometimes at very short notice to keep up with the ever-changing aspects of the project. Mark was there on hand in person wind and rain! patiently working with us and the team to ensure we had the accurate drawings we needed, when we needed them. Thank you for your valuable contribution to the project.”

“Datum Surveys undertook the survey of Efford Downs for the Compass Point Project. It was crucial that listed storm tower would replicate the exact alignment in its new position. When setting out the new foundation base Datum Surveys attended at very short notice to agree with the Client and Builder the exact positioning to achieve this.”

Project Summary
A community project we were proud to be part of.
Since 1835 this building has stood as a local landmark but as the cliff below is being eroded rapidly the fears within the community were that it would at some point soon, fall into the sea, so the decision was to move it. A local fund raising campaign was put together and Datumline Surveys jumped at the chance of offering our services as specialist architectural surveyors in Bude. The building has a listed status and sits on a site of special scientific interest, so maticulous detail from the planning stage right through to re-construction was going to be critical to its success. We carried out a detailed measured building survey using our Trimble X7 laser scanner, geo referenced to Ordnance Survey grid and datum using survey grade GNSS equipment and left the site with a fully colourised 3d pointcloud model of the building with the most incerdible amout of detail.
When creating our detailed architectural survey drawings we were able to precisely draw each stone and evey signifant detail throughout the structure. This allowed Historic England, Cornwall Archeology and all other stake holders to make strategic decisions on how the building was to be dismantled, moved and re constructed.
After the new location was decided upon we precisely marked out the new center point of the tower to Ordnance survey coorinates ready for construction work to start.
